The study suggests that inflammation of visceral fat may be reduced through moderate amounts of exercise. Visceral fat has been linked with metabolic syndrome which is a group of risk factors that predict Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
Aside from the fact that belly fat can be particularly unattractive, it is also a more dangerous type of fat compared to the others as it is responsible for the creation of inflammatory molecules found in the bloodstream. These molecules cause systematic diseases that are closely with metabolic syndromes.
At the end of the 6-week study it was concluded that belly fat can be removed by dieting and moderate exercise combined. Dieting alone is not sufficient. One does not have to be obese to develop belly fat. There are people who are generally lean except for an excess of layer of fat in the stomach. If you happen to be one, be forewarned.
